Random thoughts influenced by sickness

Today marks day three of my version of our house stomach flu. Where does ‘flu’ begin and ’stomach bug’ end? Lucky for me, it hit Sunday afternoon, allowing me to fulfill my ecclesiastical duties. I do hope though that I didn’t affect any parishioners.
It allowed me to watch No County For Old Men again yesterday. It’s a terrific take on the chaos and violence that threatens to overtake us/is overtaking us/has overtaken us. The ending was panned, but like a good Biblical pericope, if you look at it in context, it makes a fine conclusion.
So since I’m feeling a little better today, I’ll try to do some work from home. That means preparing for Sunday as much as I can, making some simple phone calls, planning a little. But since I’m at home, my time is easily compromised by our daughter Sarah, and the desire to give my wife a break from attending to her. I am also tempted to study some of the other NHL first-round playoff matchups–I think many more are toss-ups that the experts predict. Also in the think-tank is the on-going search for the next coach of the Providence College hoops team. Larry Brown, huh? Which do I feel more sorry for?
